The Hunter Rede Chronicles of Ealiron Book 1 eBook FT McKinstry

There are not very many writers who can combine lyricism with intense action and a complex plot and have it work. This book is a triumph. Lorth has worked for years as a lone assassin, and he finds himself in a time and place where he suddenly realizes that all he wants to do is go home. Terrible consequences follow this decision, for in his absence, his homeland has been invaded, and everything has changed. The place where he thought he would be safe offers nothing but peril. Challenges arise that he could have never imagined.

I am absolutely in awe of this writer's skill. An imaginary world is fully fleshed out, and the characters seem very real, each with their own flaws and foibles. Highly recommended.

The Hunter Rede Chronicles of Ealiron Book 1 eBook FT McKinstry Reviews

F.T. McKinstry has a gift for unique stories. I had a bit of difficulty with this tale but overall, I liked it and will look for future offerings from this author.
What really draws you into this novel is the author's voice. Her unique writing style really brings the world to life. It's reminiscent of Michael Moorcock in his Elric saga.

Great novel -- looking forward to more in the series. In the meantime, I'll check out some of her other works.
I thought after two pages I'd put it down but I couldn't. It kept me going until the last page
This is a well written tale and highly enjoyable. I look forward
To reading more by this author. Five star rating.
This is a great book. The writer has a wonderful, flowing, articulate style that doesn't stall or drag along. She paints great imagery with a superbly developed main character, an excellent cast of characters around him, and a well thought-out system of magic. You won't find dragons, goblins and elves in this book, although the author doesn't rule out the existence of strange beasts in the land, and I suspect that some might be forthcoming in future books. What you will find instead is a great story about assassins, non-traditional wizards, powerful magic, men at arms, swords and arrows, royalty, relationships, and political intrigue...all with a touch of spice, tastefully executed and interspersed at well-timed intervals. I would classify this book as heroic fantasy, and you will love the main character, Lorth, a devastatingly powerful assassin capable of cold blooded murder, yet equally capable of compassion and passion, be it for his faithful horse, his master's cat, or his lover. This book can be read as a stand-alone novel and it won't leave you hanging. The author wraps everything up nicely, but leaves you eager for what comes next. Very well done, and you will not regret reading it.
The Hunter's Reds takes you to a world filled with magic and warfare. Lorth is a trained assassin, one of the best around. His latest assignment pulls him into war. Forced to take sides and to defend himself, the reader slowly learns about Lorth's unique heritage and unique magical abilities.

F.T. McKinstry creates a wonderful story with a great plot, heavy political intrigue, plenty of blade action, and even a bit of love. The central point of this tale is that one single man can make a difference, and change the world. This author is a serious fantasy writer whose work deserves to be followed closely.
This is really an engaging story. The words truly come alive under the skillful hand of Ms. McKinstry. It is a very vivid read with some incredible imagery - "his heart limping with futile sentiment".

This is a complex story where you live and breathe Lorth's journey the hunter's rede; the wizardry; the magic; the use of the mind - to see the future, enter others' thoughts, to communicate; his assassin lifestyle; his journey to really discover not only who he is but where he belongs. Lorth is someone you can tell has lived a solitary life, he doesn't really take into account others in the things he does. He is often in trouble and being chased by someone. He's a likeable character even though at times he was a bit pigheaded and self-centered. He was definitely someone I could easily envision and actually felt like I knew him and understood him and his actions. All of the characters were really well done and believable.

There are a lot of characters, a lot going on but it is a story that you need to keep reading. All is pulled together and you will understand who all the characters are and the roll they play. A compelling read.
